OMG YOU GUYS

OUR HOUSE WAS FLOODED FOR THE WHOLE OF SATURDAY (we're looking at waist-deep INSIDE, y'all) AND ELECTRICITY WAS ONLY RESTORED TONIGHT, MONDAY NIGHT.

So... if you were wondering where I was? I was home, but without electricity. GAH.

It's still great to know you're alive and well. WHEW. This whole thing about Ondoy is just scaring me.

It was so scary! We really thought we'd be stuck in flood for days on end. And then there's no electricity... only now do we realize the severity of the damage everywhere!

Read about this incident on another journal. I'm dealing with flood, too but it's much more calm here.

I am, thanks :) Floods are actually very common here but rarely that massive. I'm just glad we got out of it safely!

We're all good. I think we go off extremely lucky; other people saved nothing from their homes :(

That was my worry too, because we were in water for most of Saturday, trying to salvage our furniture. Lights went out just before the sockets got wet, thank goodness!

I'm glad you're fine. It was really crazy last Saturday! T_T

Zarah! *hugs* Glad you're all safe. I've been following the flood online, it's horrible :( Makes me so sad to see the devastation.

I'm glad the power was deliberately cut to prevent electrocution. The fact that they turned it on already means that it's safe to do so, right? That's a good sign.

Hope you guys can salvage stuff...and I hope that others are as lucky as you. :)

I think the only victims in our house were a few soaked clothes, curtains, and beyond-all-hope cabinets... but other than that, we're all okay, Thank God.

Actually, some parts of Bulacan got electricity a full day earlier than we did. turns out one of the electric posts in our subdivision got damaged, so it took longer... I got to see the news tonight, though, and I'm just shocked. To think we were whining because of the heat, when most people have nothing now... T___T

Oh, myyyyy. Thank goodness you and your family are safe. You live in Pasig/Marikina/Rizal/San Juan?

Bulacan. By virtue of being extremely close to Manila, we too were affected by the flood :(

Will the house be alright?

♥ Thank you! Yep, our house is still standing, although we do have a couple of soaked cabinets that actually caved in this morning. They crumpled like paper! It was pretty funny XD

DDD:

I'd say I could sympathize on the flooding bit, but on the various occasions that our hot water heater started leaking or my (vaguely skilled in minor electrician work) Dad started messing with the plumbing without totally knowing what he was doing generally resulted in nothing more than a millimeter of flooding, and that just in the laundry room and really nowhere else.

XD We had one like that - basically, just as the water started to get inside the house, the rain would stop. So our floor would just be wet for a few minutes and we're like !!! the water came in just to taunt us!

Glad to know you're okay! Phew! Luckily, our house wasn't flooded, and we're in a flood-free area. But I do feel sorry for those who lost their homes to Ondoy. And those people I saw on TV who died, found in the most unlikely of places (on tops of trees, beside the river), I was thinking, "What a f*ckin way to die!"

It was terrible and horrible. I've heard from some folks who lived in supposedly flood-free areas; their houses didn't stand a chance against the onslaught of water :(

We were really, really lucky. I mean, most are still reeling from losing everything :(
