OMG YOU GUYS

OUR HOUSE WAS FLOODED FOR THE WHOLE OF SATURDAY (we're looking at waist-deep INSIDE, y'all) AND ELECTRICITY WAS ONLY RESTORED TONIGHT, MONDAY NIGHT.

So... if you were wondering where I was? I was home, but without electricity. GAH.

*cliiings* Just glad you're alright; I've been worried.

It's still great to know you're alive and well. WHEW. This whole thing about Ondoy is just scaring me.

[identity profile] whirlingstorm06.livejournal.com 2009-09-28 11:54 am (UTC)(link)
good to hear that you are fine.

[identity profile] mariko-azrael.livejournal.com 2009-09-28 11:55 am (UTC)(link)
Gah, that's awful. I'm hoping things get better for you soon.

[identity profile] zarahjoyce.livejournal.com 2009-09-28 11:58 am (UTC)(link)
♥ Thank you so much. I was really scared for a time because I thought the flood was going to reach our house's second floor :(

[identity profile] zarahjoyce.livejournal.com 2009-09-28 11:59 am (UTC)(link)
It was so scary! We really thought we'd be stuck in flood for days on end. And then there's no electricity... only now do we realize the severity of the damage everywhere!

[identity profile] zarahjoyce.livejournal.com 2009-09-28 12:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you :) How about you? Are you and your family okay?

[identity profile] zarahjoyce.livejournal.com 2009-09-28 12:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you so much! We're hoping the worst is now over, but with another typhoon coming, we'll never know :(

[identity profile] whirlingstorm06.livejournal.com 2009-09-28 12:04 pm (UTC)(link)
we're fine. our house was situated at the highest point in the street and it never floods in our street. until ondoy happened.

both ends of the street were 5 ft deep. fortunately, the level in front of our house was gutter level. most of the cars parked in front of our place.

[identity profile] tarma.livejournal.com 2009-09-28 12:45 pm (UTC)(link)
You're the second person on my F-list to have suffered this typhoon. :( I'm so sorry this has happened to you but am glad you're safe.

[identity profile] zarahjoyce.livejournal.com 2009-09-28 12:47 pm (UTC)(link)
!!! You're lucky. We're used to getting floods inside the house, but damn - never that high! My dad's car got covered with water, as well as most of our neighbors' vehicles. It was so bad.

[identity profile] zarahjoyce.livejournal.com 2009-09-28 12:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you :) I think we were just caught unawares; typhoons this destructive rarely hit Metro Manila, so when one does... it's just ugly.

[identity profile] reetinkerbell.livejournal.com 2009-09-28 12:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Holy crap. I'm glad you're ok. *huggles*

[identity profile] zarahjoyce.livejournal.com 2009-09-28 12:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you ♥ We were immensely glad that no one got hurt, except a few cabinets that got soaked. They reek :(

[identity profile] tarma.livejournal.com 2009-09-28 12:54 pm (UTC)(link)
That I understand. I'm in Nova Scotia, and we got hit by Hurricane Juan in 2003 (today's the anniversary, in fact.) We weren't used to hurricanes and the strength surprised everyone. We lost our siding and our shed blew apart completely, but we were lucky and our house didn't flood (until a few years later, but that's another story.) Now we all respect approaching hurricanes much more and are as prepared as we can be (luckily, we haven't had any that were worse than Juan yet.)

Read about this incident on another journal. I'm dealing with flood, too but it's much more calm here.

Hope you're okay. :)

[identity profile] zarahjoyce.livejournal.com 2009-09-28 01:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Exactly. Maybe we were too complacent; usually when we hear about incoming storms we don't really prepare since it's nothing new. I think from now on we'll be more careful and prepared :)

[identity profile] zarahjoyce.livejournal.com 2009-09-28 01:12 pm (UTC)(link)
I am, thanks :) Floods are actually very common here but rarely that massive. I'm just glad we got out of it safely!

[identity profile] niav.livejournal.com 2009-09-28 01:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh my god! D: Is everyone all right?

[identity profile] thegirlwriter.livejournal.com 2009-09-28 01:27 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm just glad you weren't electrocuted DDDDD: Are you OK?

[identity profile] zarahjoyce.livejournal.com 2009-09-28 01:28 pm (UTC)(link)
We're all good. I think we go off extremely lucky; other people saved nothing from their homes :(

[identity profile] zarahjoyce.livejournal.com 2009-09-28 01:29 pm (UTC)(link)
That was my worry too, because we were in water for most of Saturday, trying to salvage our furniture. Lights went out just before the sockets got wet, thank goodness!

[identity profile] adriennelouise.livejournal.com 2009-09-28 01:56 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm glad you're fine. It was really crazy last Saturday! T_T

[identity profile] zarahjoyce.livejournal.com 2009-09-28 01:58 pm (UTC)(link)
It really was. It seemed like the end of the world!

[identity profile] pips-n-chiaw.livejournal.com 2009-09-28 01:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Zarah! *hugs* Glad you're all safe. I've been following the flood online, it's horrible :( Makes me so sad to see the devastation.

I'm glad the power was deliberately cut to prevent electrocution. The fact that they turned it on already means that it's safe to do so, right? That's a good sign.

Hope you guys can salvage stuff...and I hope that others are as lucky as you. :)
