It's Holy Week already! What even. It seems only days ago that we were celebrating Christmas, and now it's Lent! Time, why you fly so fast?

And so I've come to ask you to help me, flist! Come Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Black Saturday I'll be completely off the internet. I'm already planning on re-reading at least three books and marathon-ing movies. Rec me some stuff! Or ask for fic, icon, tumblr image, ANYTHING so that I can be busy. HALP.

Do you have wi-fi? Because if so, then it's not as easy as hiding the cord either.

Library?

That's true, plus unplugging it isn't really an option since my family also uses the connection. I do have The Hobbit and LOTR trilogy lined up for me to read, but more things to do will be awesome.

I'm afraid that isn't an option, since I don't live near one :\

That should hopefully keep you occupied for a while. Lay a 5000 pieces puzzle?

That's a shame. :(

The only one I have's already done (and framed, even!)

It is D: I would love to have a community library near us. Imagine all the books I don't have to buy so I can read them :(

LOL. I would not have the patience for it!

I would look for some kind of online downloading place - they might not have new books, but a lot of older ones where the copyright has expired on should be available for free downloading, legally. I can't remember exactly what it was called, but I want it to start with G (Greenberger? I don't know), and it also had 'Project' in it's name - it's like a website where a lot of these books are available. Sorry I can't be of more help there.

Not Greenberger, but Gutenberg: http://www.gutenberg.org/wiki/Main_Page

I don't even know why I did it! It was a puzzle for my zodiac sign (Sagittarius) so :P

HOLY CRAP I AM SO BOOKMARKING THAT PAGE.

Was it a gift?

You're welcome. :)

I bought it a long time ago :D

I think it could be kind of fun to lay a large puzzle, if it's raining and you're out in the woods. But, the only time I am out in the woods, sequestered off the mainland (seriously lol) I am in a place that does not suit puzzle pieces at all. First of all, I wouldn't have the room for a large puzzle and second of all, if it's raining, or just even damp in the air (and it often is, since it's an island and there's lots of forest around) the puzzle pieces would get affected because we camp in (large) tents, so they would get all squiggly and stuff, you know, like cardboard gets when it's wet. Not exactly fun.

[identity profile] zarahjoyce.livejournal.com 2011-04-25 10:22 am (UTC)(link)
Well to be honest, I haven't been out in any type of woods, so you win on that one :P The thing I remember about that puzzle is that, instead of forming the front picture with the zodiac sign you slowly form the back of it, section by section, since the puzzle is divided into sections and there's a specific letter for each one so it's like forming smaller puzzles before the bigger one. I'm not sure if all puzzles are like that, or if other people ignore it for the ~challenge, but I'm all for making life easier so :D

[identity profile] reetinkerbell.livejournal.com 2011-04-25 10:32 am (UTC)(link)
So a little paint-by-numbers, but not? I don't know if other puzzles generally have that - I don't think the very large ones does, because of the challenge. Not that I've seen anyway, or else people wouldn't sit and sort and sit and sort and sort and sort and sort out the edges, so they can start with the frame, and then sort like-enough pieces together into groups.

What did I win? :P

[identity profile] zarahjoyce.livejournal.com 2011-04-26 01:07 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm afraid I have nothing to give you, sob! D:

Then you shouldn't tease!

:P
