Hey guys? Rec me something - be it a show, an episode of a show, a book, an anime, a game - anything. I'm in dire need of something new in my life right now. Help?
I recommend Fastlane starring Peter Facinelli, Bill Bellamy (a.k.a. the voice of Cousin Skeeter), and Tiffani Thiessen (from Saved By The Bell). IMO, it's the most awesome one-season undercover cop show ever. =D
Anime: Gakuen Alice or Yumeiro Patissiere. Both extremely cute and oh my gosh, the male leads in both? *squees!* You can find both on youtube very easily.
Books: Anything John Marsden, but especially the Tomorrow series, which begins with Tomorrow when the War Began. Also anything by Isobelle Carmody, but especially the Obernewtyn Chronicles, which begins with Obernewtyn. Oh, and Feeling Sorry for Celia by Jaclyn Moriarty is good too. (Yeah, I've been wanting to rec some great Australian YA to people for ages now *winks*)
The Magicians (http://www.amazon.com/Magicians-Novel-Lev-Grossman/dp/0670020559) by Lev Grossman. It's like, Harry Potter and Narnia combined, but with actual teenagers who do things like drink, swear, and have sex. And other dumb things. It's amazing.
If you want to turn your brain off for four and a half hours (or in three hour and a half installments) there's this thing on YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UOA6-VU5iek).
I have mostly old things to recommend, but ah well.
Anime: I really loved the story behind Angel Beats. Excel Saga is crazy fun, and Slayers is one of my favorite series, having a great story in a fantasy setting. Genshiken is also great, although it's the opposite end of the spectrum, since it's about a bunch of fanboys and their anime appreciation club. <3 It's sweet and very nostalgic for me, even though I'm from completely the wrong country. XD;
Comics: Well, I'm reading Scott Pilgrim now, and it's pretty darn good. So I'm seconding that.
Game: Psychonauts- try it if you haven't before...and if you can find it. It is so fun. In the realm of boardgames, Zombies!!! (the three exclamation marks are important) is the most fun I've ever had playing a board game.
Show: We're re-watching Babylon 5 right now, and I'm constantly amazed by how wonderful the writing is.
Have you ever seen Coupling? Great British comedy. We watch it again and again. You can see the episodes on youtube. The ones we used to watch were taken down, but someone else put them up with spanish subtitles, hehe. GREAT show. Even if you've seen it, you can watch it again. :D
Show: I'm watching nothing but k-dramas right now, so I'll be recommending My Girlfriend is a Gumiho (watch it here (http://www.viikii.net/channels/goto/MyGirlfriend)) which just finished and is totally adorable. :D Oh, and an old favorite k-drama of mine is Soulmate, which is available on dramafever.com :D
Book: Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet by Jamie Ford is excellent. :D And books by Haruki Murakami are always worthy to be recommended--I'd personally recommend Norwegian Wood, Sputnik Sweetheart, and South of the Border, West of the Sun. :D
Anime: Have you watched Skip Beat yet? (It's available on Crunchyroll) That and Kimi ni Todoke. :D
team batista no eiko 2 (watch the first season though before going here because there will be spoilers)
why this season? shinkenred is an intern in emergency medicine, boukenpink and rio-sama are both relatives/caretakers of 2 different patients and owner of kamen rider den-o is a medical director.
the first season featured gekired as a cardiology intern (i think)
story-wise, decent. there will be medical terms but you will want to watch the mystery of the show that is only partially medical.

Personally, my fave seasons are 2 and 3, though 1 and 4 are hilarious as well. :) Humor is a bit on the mature side, hehe. :)
