That's what my brother did, I think? He took the snake and placed it in a plastic container, and now I don't know where they both went.

In fairness, I think they are! My brother told me that yes, it's still alive, and will be given away instead of being killed, so... yay! I'm not a fan of killing animals, too - even those that freaked the ever-living crap out of me XD
