HOLY CRAP in less than 24 hours my sister and nephew will be here with us! I really, really hope and pray they'll have a safe trip.

Taken from [livejournal.com profile] niav:

Leave a comment on this post and I will pick three of your fandoms. Then you get to answer the following questions:

1. The character I first fell in love with
2. The character I never expected to love as much as I do now
3. The character everyone else loves that I don't
4. The character I love that everyone else hates
5. The character I used to love but don't any longer
6. The character I would shag anytime
7. The character I'd want to be like
8. The character I'd slap
9. A pairing that I love
10. A pairing that I despise
11. Favorite character
12. My five favorite characters
13. My five least favorite characters
14. Which character I am most like
15. My deep, dark fandom secret

Shinkenger:

1. The character I first fell in love with - Ryunosuke. I even wrote a fic for him before the show started.
2. The character I never expected to love as much as I do now - Jii! I think this is the first time I actually cared for the mentor of the group.
3. The character everyone else loves that I don't - Genta. I just don't get him.
4. The character I love that everyone else hates - Tanba, too. His devotion to Kaoru is just... awww.
5. The character I used to love but don't any longer - Ryunosuke T___T I still love him loads, but he just... kinda faded in the background for me.
6. The character I would shag anytime - Juuzo, just because 8D
7. The character I'd want to be like - Mako!
8. The character I'd slap - Genta. Because I really don't like him.
9. A pairing that I love - Chiaki/Kotoha.
10. A pairing that I despise - Any slash pairings, I guess? I never did like slash.
11. Favorite character - Kotoha
12. My five favorite characters - Kotoha, Chiaki, Mako, Kaoru, Takeru.
13. My five least favorite characters - The four core Gedoushu and Genta.
14. Which character I am most like - Probably Kotoha, in terms of following those in authority and deep-set insecurities. Yeah.
15. My deep, dark fandom secret - I really think Shinkenger had an excellent beginning and end, but the middle kinda flounced a bit.

Harry Potter

1. The character I first fell in love with - Draco. Awww. I'm a sucker for the bad boy type.
2. The character I never expected to love as much as I do now - Pansy!
3. The character everyone else loves that I don't - Any of the Weasleys, actually. I can only like Ron if he's paired with Pansy.
4. The character I love that everyone else hates - Pansy?
5. The character I used to love but don't any longer - Probably Hermione.
6. The character I would shag anytime - Draco, of course.
7. The character I'd want to be like - ...Hermione. I like her ambition and drive.
8. The character I'd slap - Umbridge!
9. A pairing that I love - Draco/Hermione
10. A pairing that I despise - Draco/Ginny.
11. Favorite character - Draco
12. My five favorite characters - Draco, Pansy, Lucius, Narcissa, Bellatrix. OH HEY THERE'S A PATTERN.
13. My five least favorite characters - Harry, Ron, Ginny, Weasley Twins.
14. Which character I am most like - Some obscure, unknown Hufflepuff character I'm sure.
15. My deep, dark fandom secret - I only read all the books once, and never did bother reading any of them again. And yes, even when I was actively writing fics. It's one of the reasons most of my stuff are AUs, now.

Rescue Fire

1. The character I first fell in love with - Tsubasa
2. The character I never expected to love as much as I do now - Ummmm Ritsuka?
3. The character everyone else loves that I don't - Tatsuya.
4. The character I love that everyone else hates - Tsubasa
5. The character I used to love but don't any longer - Yuma
6. The character I would shag anytime - Tsubasa
7. The character I'd want to be like - Ritsuka. Miss Perfect FTW!
8. The character I'd slap - Tatsuya
9. A pairing that I love - Ritsuka/Tsubasa
10. A pairing that I despise - Tatsuya/Anyone
11. Favorite character - Ritsuka
12. My five favorite characters - Ritsuka, Tsubasa, Jun. That's it.
13. My five least favorite characters - Tatsuya x 5. Oh, and Q-suke.
14. Which character I am most like - Jun? With the fangirling.
15. My deep, dark fandom secret - I haven't watched an episode of this since August T___T

I hope they have a safe trip too!

I want to see you do Angel for this one. And you can give me three fandoms. :)

[identity profile] zarahjoyce.livejournal.com 2010-02-18 04:49 am (UTC)(link)
Thank you! ♥

For you I pick... Angel, House, and BtVS :D

1. The character I first fell in love with - Cordelia
2. The character I never expected to love as much as I do now - Wesley.
3. The character everyone else loves that I don't - Either Lorne or Fred.
4. The character I love that everyone else hates - Harmony.
5. The character I used to love but don't any longer - ...I have no answer for this one.
6. The character I would shag anytime - Angel, of course!
7. The character I'd want to be like - Cordelia. Her confidence and loyalty to her friends is inspiring. Plus who wouldn't want to have a hot vampire head over heels in love with her.
8. The character I'd slap - Eve. Groo. Ughhhhhhh.
9. A pairing that I love - Angel/Cordelia.
10. A pairing that I despise - ...Cordelia/Doyle.
11. Favorite character - Cordelia
12. My five favorite characters - Angel, Cordelia, Illyria, Wesley, Lilah!
13. My five least favorite characters - Eve, Groo, Fred, Lindsey, Gunn.
14. Which character I am most like - Lilah?
15. My deep, dark fandom secret - The last time I've been semi-active in the Angel fandom was... probably 8 years ago. I left and lost interest then when Season Four premiered.

[identity profile] zarahjoyce.livejournal.com 2010-02-18 06:05 am (UTC)(link)
Eeeh I hope so, too! They'll be arriving at around 5 AM tomorrow, so I guess that means less sleep for all of us XD

Hmmm I'll give you Harry Potter, Firefly and BtVS :D

[identity profile] reetinkerbell.livejournal.com 2010-02-18 06:35 am (UTC)(link)
LOL! Ok, I will reply here because I'm too lazy to repost. I hope you don't mind.

Harry Potter
1. The character I first fell in love with: Hagrid (but only 'cause Hermione was introduced after him)
2. The character I never expected to love as much as I do now: Neville.
3. The character everyone else loves that I don't: Remus.
4. The character I love that everyone else hates: Ron (sort of)
5. The character I used to love but don't any longer: Harry.
6. The character I would shag anytime: Draco.
7. The character I'd want to be like: Hermione.
8. The character I'd slap: Ron.
9. A pairing that I love: Draco/Hermione.
10. A pairing that I despise: Draco/Ginny.
11. Favorite character: Hermione.
12. My five favorite characters: Hermione, Draco, Neville, Crouch!Moody, Hagrid.
13. My five least favorite characters: Lucius, Remus, Pettigrew, Umbridge, Dean/Seamus (the one that switched sides on Harry all the time)
14. Which character I am most like: I dunno, Ginny?
15. My deep, dark fandom secret: Not only have I only read books 5-7 once, but I can barely remember them. In addition, it took me nearly a year of owning OotP on film before I watched it and I've still yet to see HBP - something my older sister has, and she's not even a fan.

Firefly.
1. The character I first fell in love with: Wash (his first scene and I was gone)
2. The character I never expected to love as much as I do now: Jayne.
3. The character everyone else loves that I don't: Simon.
4. The character I love that everyone else hates: I don't think there is one.
5. The character I used to love but don't any longer: Book.
6. The character I would shag anytime: Wash.
7. The character I'd want to be like: Kaylee.
8. The character I'd slap: Simon.
9. A pairing that I love: Kaylee/Simon.
10. A pairing that I despise: Jayne/Inara.
11. Favorite character: Kaylee.
12. My five favorite characters: Wash, River, Kaylee, Mal, Zoe.
13. My five least favorite characters: Unfair question in such a small fandom. Five of the Reavers?
14. Which character I am most like: I wish!
15. My deep, dark fandom secret: As much as I love the show and though I've written a drabble or two, the only fanfic I've read are the drabbles written by [livejournal.com profile] shag_me_draco - and she's written only two or three.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer
1. The character I first fell in love with: Spike.
2. The character I never expected to love as much as I do now: Andrew.
3. The character everyone else loves that I don't: Willow (though 'everyone' is a strong word, but I think many)
4. The character I love that everyone else hates: Glory.
5. The character I used to love but don't any longer: Xander.
6. The character I would shag anytime: Spike.
7. The character I'd want to be like: Buffy (though smarter and more open and accepting)
8. The character I'd slap: Buffy (see above!)
9. A pairing that I love: Spike/Buffy!!!!
10. A pairing that I despise: Spike/Willow.
11. Favorite character: Spike
12. My five favorite characters: Spike, Tara, Andrew, Anya, Buffy.
13. My five least favorite characters: Dawn, Giles, Kennedy, Riley, Angel.
14. Which character I am most like: Dawn, probably.
15. My deep, dark fandom secret: There are several episodes of season four and five that I've not actually seen - I've read the transcripts and I've seen clips from several scenes in fanvids, but I've still yet to actually seen ALL episodes of Buffy. This despite the fact that I now own the whole series and have been a fan since 2002.

[identity profile] zarahjoyce.livejournal.com 2010-02-18 06:40 am (UTC)(link)
Oh lol! I also don't like Remus. Same goes for the remaining Marauders, actually :(

Also, I love Glory! She's a fantastic villain. And lol, you don't like Angel? I only like him in his own show, admittedly. Any time he returns to BtVS, or whenever Buffy gets within Kissing/Hugging range? NO.

[identity profile] reetinkerbell.livejournal.com 2010-02-18 07:25 am (UTC)(link)
I have issues with Sirius too, but at least he has the excuse of having been in Azkaban and that's why he was never able to just visit Harry or steal him away and take care of him. I mean, ok, if he'd done that, the whole love protection might not have worked, but it's not as if he knew that!

That's why I put Angel. I've not seen many episodes of his show, but those that I have he seems far more mature, and then just a few weeks later while back in Sunnydale, he's back to his old self again. It's like the town itself is making the characters stay all juvenile. It's a bit like Wesley - now, I kinda loved him on Buffy if only because he was an idiot and kinda fun, but on Angel, especially after he came into his own? Totally cool - though in many ways perhaps he grew too quickly, because he changed a lot.

[identity profile] zarahjoyce.livejournal.com 2010-02-18 09:10 am (UTC)(link)
Oh man, Wesley S1 and S5 are like two different characters. I wish he was able to revisit Sunnydale just so the people there can stare at him like O__O at how different he's become. Same with Cordy, actually. That's why I'm a sucker for returning-to-Sunnydale fics because I love reading about the perspectives of people on how much the Angel characters have grown.

...except for Angel. Like what you said, it's like all character development of his flows out the window the minute Buffy's name is mentioned. That's why I have tons of issues with The Girl in Question - Spike's obsession with Buffy I can understand, but Angel's? Plus, Cordelia hadn't been dead for months in this timeline. It just... doesn't make any kind of sense at all :(

[identity profile] reetinkerbell.livejournal.com 2010-02-18 09:16 am (UTC)(link)
A lot of it doesn't make sense, which is what comes from having different writers and no real head writer with the ability to change or edit as he sees fit. I mean, I think Joss had the ability to change things or ask them to add certain things that would lead towards the end of the series and big things like that, but as for the regular, evil-of-the-week-and-how-to-deal-with-it, I think it was up to the writer(s) of the episode itself. So no continuity. I mean, that's really what's happening with the characters as they go from Buffy to Angel - the writers on the other show don't know what they are like any more, if they ever did.

Also, I hope you know that I blame you for right now reading Spuffy fics. I mean, I'm totally loving it, but still - totally your fault for making me think of the ship again! :P

[identity profile] zarahjoyce.livejournal.com 2010-02-18 09:22 am (UTC)(link)
...I didn't even think of that angle, to be honest. It's just so annoying, you know? One of the best things about shows is character consistency and sometimes a lot of issues arise just because it's lacking. ALSO I'm not sure if I ever told you this but do you keep up with the Buffy comics? BECAUSE GDI MY RAGE CANNOT BE CONTAINED. EVER.

Anyway I can totally relate with the reading fics thing XD I swear, I can never have enough of Cordelia/Angel! it doesn't help that we're totally gunning for it in our ljrp game so. AND YES I DO NOT REGRET REINTRODUCING YOU TO SPUFFY 8D

[identity profile] reetinkerbell.livejournal.com 2010-02-18 09:45 am (UTC)(link)
I've not, but only because all that I've heard of it has made me go HULKMAD and so I thought it was better for the general health of my heart and the general state of my hair if I stayed away.

Heh. I don't regret it either. For a while now, I've been wanting to read Spuffy (either reread or new ones, though there aren't *that* many as far as I've found yet) but I've just not had the time. But now, well, this meme just pushed me over the edge. Coupled also with reading a story (a Twilight exchange) that was written for an author whose LJ I recognised, looked up and realised it was an old Spuffy writer, with an easy link to a Spuffy archive right there on her LJ. I could't just not click on it.

[identity profile] zarahjoyce.livejournal.com 2010-02-18 09:54 am (UTC)(link)
I wish I had enough sense to stay away like you did :( Ignorance is really, really bliss let me tell you.

In fairness! Some of the authors I recognized years ago are still coming up with great fics too, and there are new writers, so I'm glad the fandom isn't completely dead yet! Lucky us :D

[identity profile] reetinkerbell.livejournal.com 2010-02-18 10:07 am (UTC)(link)
At first it was mostly because I couldn't find it - had I been able to get my hands on copies as it started, I probably would've read it too before realising what exactly it was.

Oh, I didn't mean to make it sound as though there aren't any new stories out, either by new authors or older ones, or that they aren't good - it's just that thus far I've not really found any, but that's because I've only been at it for two-three hours and I must admit to having started with a few rereads, just to get back into the spirit of things. The fandom isn't dead, it's just not quite as active as it once was, as is expected.

[identity profile] zarahjoyce.livejournal.com 2010-02-18 10:23 am (UTC)(link)
Oh! Oops XD I do love re-reading, though. Some of the ones I fell in love with before still had that something in them that made me fall for them again :D

[identity profile] reetinkerbell.livejournal.com 2010-02-18 10:30 am (UTC)(link)
LOL. I'm not always clear on what I mean. :P

Yeah, I think for me though, most of the time I think that there's more fics that have that special something when I first join a fandom than they do later -- but that's because first of all, when I first join a fandom, unless it's completely new (and that's only been the Glee fandom for me) there's already a back-log of great fics for me to read. In addition, I am more willing to think that a story has that something extra before I've read a hundred more with the same pairing. So not it's not that the earlier stories are better (though many of them are good), it's that I've become more... critical and I demand more than that little extra I was happy with in the beginning, because while the stories are different, it's still the same pairing. And I'm like this in all my fandoms - and it only becomes worse if or when I start writing for it.

I hope that makes sense. :P

[identity profile] zarahjoyce.livejournal.com 2010-02-18 10:47 am (UTC)(link)
Mmm yes. One of the best things about joining a fandom, be it new or old, is the initial encounter with fics I think. Like for instance, I really, really love time-travel fics in Angel - and I was lucky that the first one I've read of that kind is a simple but effective story that made me go awwww! That was eight years ago, and I still hold that story over the more complicated, convoluted ones - though the latter ones are still appreciated, of course.

[identity profile] reetinkerbell.livejournal.com 2010-02-18 10:55 am (UTC)(link)
That's also why, as much as I love rereading, I'm afraid to reread certain stories, because I'm afraid that I now (now that I know the language better and am a writer myself) I will realise just now not well the story was actually written, either in the writing of it or the actual plot. I rather just look back on it and be happy, even if details of it (or them, as it were) are starting to blurr.

[identity profile] zarahjoyce.livejournal.com 2010-02-18 11:04 am (UTC)(link)
I know the feeling, only I'm more nitpicky-ish when it comes to the technical side of writing - especially when I was actively reading on how to write better. I usually don't pick up on plot holes myself, or if certain things make sense or not unless they're pointed out to me T___T

[identity profile] reetinkerbell.livejournal.com 2010-02-18 11:41 am (UTC)(link)
I can be really nitpicky on that as well, not perhaps the spelling (though if there's a lot of mistakes it'll bother me, as would bad grammar) but how certain sentences are worded etc. Though, to be honest, the way a story looks bothers me more than how it might, at times, be worded. That's actually why I like ff.net, because the screen is clear and the font easy to read (it's also easy to make the words larger and you have the choices on the full view, the half view and the 3/4 view). So if a story is somewhat badly written, I am more likely to read it than a story with the same "faults" (as I would see them) that was posted with a lot of unnecessarily long paragraphs, tiny text that couldn't be changed etc.

But, more than anything, the plot is most important to me when deciding on if I want to continue to read a story or not despite whatever flaws I might find with it.

[identity profile] zarahjoyce.livejournal.com 2010-02-18 11:55 am (UTC)(link)
Yes! In fairness to The Pit, some of the best stories I've ever read, regardless of fandom, is found there. Plus the adjustable font size really does work in its favor.

[identity profile] reetinkerbell.livejournal.com 2010-02-18 11:58 am (UTC)(link)
I have to agree with you on some of the best stuff. I only really go there when following a link from LJ, but have found some really good stories through other author's rec lists etc. It's rare that I look through the postings within the categories, because then I would have to wade a lot. I fear I might be missing out, but I figure that others won't and I'll eventually find out about those stories through recs. Only when I first join a fandom will I wade through.

[identity profile] zarahjoyce.livejournal.com 2010-02-18 12:05 pm (UTC)(link)
I love looking through favorites lists of authors. For some reason I never collected them myself - but I always trust the list collected by those writers I consider awesome, and it's very rare that I get disappointed by them!

[identity profile] reetinkerbell.livejournal.com 2010-02-18 12:09 pm (UTC)(link)
If I'm nore sure about a summary, I will only take a chance on the story if I see it on more than one author's list. :P I mainly look at author's whose work I myself enjoy, because I'm hoping they have as high standards on what they read as on what they write. :P I have been disappointed, but not so much in the story or the actual plot itself in terms of it being a good story - only in that I dislike a certain part of it (usually has to do with sex and the characters in my pairing having it with others, and completely unnecessary mentions of it having happened in the past) but that's something I can live with.

If I remember correctly, ep 5 was the one with Takeru's childhood montage/scene, right? That still makes me go awwww every time I remember it.

Oooh! Interesting, reading your HP answers. ^^ Feel free to give me three fandoms.

[identity profile] zarahjoyce.livejournal.com 2010-02-18 10:52 am (UTC)(link)
Haha! I just realized how long I've been out of that fandom when I began forgetting the names of the characters. Eep!

Hmmm... Angel, Power Rangers (your favorite season) and Sailor Moon :D

[identity profile] polina-slosvau.livejournal.com 2010-02-18 10:55 am (UTC)(link)
I know what that's like. O_o! I have the same problem with Star Wars these days.

And righto!

give me fandoms, please? but not Kiva, W or Go-on because I already have them from [livejournal.com profile] niav.

But how can you not like Genta? He's so hilarious and *lolflail* I have so much love for him.

oh, remember that fic I was talking about? It would have gone up monday morning, but it was 2 am, it wasn't finished yet, and I had a test the next morning. ever since then, the ending has been bugging me - I'm really debating how I want it to end, you know? but since I'm all done with tests for the forseeable future, hopefully today it will be up! I'll comment somewhere when it's done, 'kay? *hugs tightly*

Boukenger, Maskman (did you watch this?) and Mystic Force :D

Hehehe I don't know. I guess something about him just rubs me the wrong way. And sure! I will read it once it's up :D
