Shinkenger fic: Innocence

Title: Innocence
Rating: PG
Summary: How easily humans fell for an innocent face.
Notes: This is inspired by [livejournal.com profile] terrierlee and having the urge to write, (and this is the result! yay!) thus giving me the urge to write as well. Also, blame this past discussion about evil Kotoha.

How easily humans fell for an innocent face.

Convincing the others to trust her had been too easy. A few words of encouragement and loyalty and faith were all it took; sweet smiles and gentle gestures were enough to reel them in. Ryuunosuke and Mako, who now acted like her older siblings, Chiaki and Genta, who looked out for her, and even Takeru, who was desperate enough to try and save her - all of them, fools.

All of them would die in her hands.

Just as easily as her older sister did.

Doukoku will be pleased, she thought, twirling her flute and grinning unpleasantly. Surely this victory would ensure her rightful place, once the Shinkengers had been killed and the Gedoushu released and the Sanzu River all but flooded the earth.

The only thing she needed was the perfect time to execute her plans, and execute them.

"Kotoha?"

She schooled her features into her usual placid expression and turned. "Mako-chan! Is anything wrong?"

Mako shook her head and grinned. "No, nothing's wrong. I'll be making dinner. Do you want to help?"

Kotoha smiled and nodded. "Of course, Mako-chan! You know I always want to learn how to cook as well as you do."

She knew the lie had worked so blatantly well when the older woman preened because of it. "Then let's go!" Mako turned to go inside the mansion.

As soon as she did, Kotoha's expression soured into disgust and revulsion. Soon, she thought, looking down to remove her shoes and disguise her feelings. Very soon indeed.

She did not know how long she could keep pretending to be innocent when she was anything but.
