Pairing, Fandom: Shun/Chisato, Chisato/Kouichirou, Miku/Shun, Denji Sentai Megaranger
Title: Damned Lucky
Word Count: 898
Rating: G
Summary: All the while Shun thought Kouichirou didn’t know how truly lucky he was, the bastard.
Disclaimer: All characters belong to their respective creators; I’m just here to have fun with them.
Kouichirou didn’t know how truly lucky he was, the bastard.
Shun had half a mind to actually tell him just as much, but doing that would just ruin the façade he was trying to keep up, not to mention the tension it would create among the group. But there were those times when his limits were sorely, purposely tested, and Shun would want nothing more than to pound some sense into that idiot to make him see just how lucky he was that someone was looking out for him.
And he acted as though he could care less about her!
Chisato was a perfectly normal girl. In fact, if Kouichirou had enough sense in that giant brain of his he would realize for himself that she was more than that – Chisato was perfect. Kind and smart and caring and intelligent and pretty…
… and any more coming from Shun would have anyone thinking that he had a thing for her. Because he didn’t. It was just that Chisato was really… and to think her attention was focused on Kouichirou, of all people… it just grated on Shun’s nerves, that was all. Because Chisato was his friend, and he didn’t want his friends to be hurt, especially by an arrogant ass like Kouichirou.
All right, fine. He liked her, somewhat. He hadn’t realized it before, of course, until he found NejiPink aiming at MegaYellow and he didn’t even think about hurling himself in front of her and taking the hit; he just acted. And her comforting him afterwards was a welcomed reward for that.
When she disappeared, he kept the pretense and let Miku express her guilt on her own. However, it didn’t keep Shun from looking at Kouichirou now and again, trying to gauge how he was taking it.
He was taking it pretty well, thank you very much.
The bastard.
He never did like her, did he? At least, not on the same level that Chisato felt for him. It was probably something she realized long ago, but still she kept a brave face on and remained cheerful and friendly about it.
Maybe it would take another guy to return her affections. Maybe… now that the threat of evil had been extinguished, it was probably time to think about… well. The possibility of… maybe him asking Chisato—
“Shun,” Miku called out to him, attaching herself to his arm the way she usually did. “Do you want to go out later, maybe get some ice cream? I hear a new flavor is available and it’s really good.”
Shun looked down at her smiling face. Miku was bright and pretty as well; most of those in his class would give anything to be where he was now: the focus of her attention. And yet…
“Shun! Miku!”
They both turned at the sound of the voice, Miku waving, Shun slightly scowling. Great. Just the person he didn’t want to see.
“Kouichirou! You sure look different today,” Miku said. She slowly circled him, looking at him from head to toe. With a flourish, she declared, “Ah, I know! You’ve got a date don’t you?”
Shun raised a brow.
“No!” Kouichirou started to tug on his ridiculously formal shirt. “Um… it’s just that, I…” Shun noticed that he was holding a small box in his hand. A present, perhaps?
“Did you finally take my advice and ask Chisato to go out with you?”
Shun’s eyes widened at that. “What!”
Miku ignored him. “You did! You did, didn’t you?” she asked, grabbing Kouichirou.
He scratched his head. “Well…”
“Did you?” Shun asked, quietly.
At that, Kouichirou looked at him, and slowly nodded.
“Well it’s about time!” Miku exclaimed, hitting Kouichirou on the arm. “I’m so glad!”
The latter smiled, rather shyly. “Me too. I’m just glad we now have the time to…” He glanced at his watch. “Oy! I’m late! I have to go!” And off Kouichirou went, running in a completely unKouichirou-like way.
Shun watched him go, feeling annoyed and, well, just a bit—
“Isn’t that wonderful?” Miku said, smiling. “I’m sure Chisato’s really happy right now. She liked him for ages, and finally—“
“Why just now?” Shun snapped, more at himself than her.
Still, Miku was surprised. “…Shun?”
“I mean…” What did he mean? “Kouichirou never showed us that he liked Chisato back. I mean… did he…?”
“Of course he does. I already asked him that, you know. It’s my right, as Chisato’s best friend.” Miku looked down and kicked a stone on the ground. “He said that he always puts being a Megaranger first before anything else. That’s why… that was why he never let himself like Chisato back. But since we already defeated the enemies...” She looked at Shun. “What’s wrong, Shun? You look a bit—“
Stunned. That was the word. Because that was how Shun felt at that moment. Because he never thought about why Kouichirou acted that way towards Chisato; he simply saw the how. And now that he thought about it…
He smiled, somewhat bitterly. “That probably means any other guy who also likes Chisato will have absolutely no chance to get her, right?”
Miku shook her head. “With Kouichirou in their way? I don’t think so.”
The bastard finally realized how damned lucky he was...
…which was what Shun feared the most.
Pairing, Fandom: Hikaru/Urara, Mahou Sentai Magiranger
Title: Little Things
Word Count: 427
Rating: G
Summary: Hikaru begins to notice the little things which unknowingly made Urara dear to him.
Disclaimer: All characters belong to their respective creators; I’m just here to have fun with them.
It all began with little things.
As a sensei, it was his duty to look out for everyone, gauge each of their capabilities, assess their weaknesses, treat them equally. It was his responsibility, as a teacher, to be unbiased and to not let himself become too emotionally attached to any one of them.
But every time, Hikaru found his gaze lingering on Urara for a fraction of a second more than it did on the others. Whenever a blast knocked them all on their feet, he would find his feet moving towards her, unconsciously trying to see if she was okay, and stopping just in time when one of her brothers had done the deed. The moment he figured out the plan of the enemy he would drop hints, hoping the siblings would realize it themselves, and find himself ridiculously pleased if Urara was the first to get it.
Little things.
He would notice that she, along with Makito, were the only ones to actually take learning their magic lessons to a different level. While Kai usually snoozed, Tsubasa often spaced out, Houka typically daydreamed, and Makito ferociously concentrated, Urara would be dutifully nodding along and taking down notes – making him feel ridiculously pleased. Again.
And Sungel was never one to be ridiculous.
She would be the first one up; her stove would be on and he could smell the eggs and bacons she was frying before dawn. She would be the last one to sleep, too; her light would be still on hours after the others had already extinguished theirs.
She was too young to be a mother of four and yet she performed the responsibility perfectly.
It continued to amaze and amuse him, even if sometimes he was the recipient of her mothering.
And then, of course…
“They usually drove me insane, but they’re family, and I love them all very much.” She said this with a smile on her face, that sweet, innocent smile that told him the truth.
These were the little things; her courage, her spirit, her devotion to her family…
“Hikaru-sennnnsei,” Houka sing-sang, as she elbowed him not-so-gently on the ribs. “You’re staring at Urara-chan again.”
“What? No!” Hikaru immediately focused on the notebook he held in his hands. “I meant – I’m doing your evaluations, and—“
“Oh, Hikaru-sensei, it’s obvious you like her!” Houka winked at him. “It’s okay. Houka supports you one hundred percent!” She performed her sign of determination and grinned at him. “Okay!”
Of course, Hikaru was at a loss for words in response to that.

Title: Kidnapped

Summary: Z gets kidnapped. Sky goes to the rescue. Purely self-indulgence, let me tell you :P
Disclaimer: All characters belong to their respective creators; I’m just here to have fun with them.
In the SPD Headquarters, there were lots of rules that were pretty much unbreakable. Never interrupt Syd whenever she was talking about herself, for one. Never attempt to take Bridge’s toast whenever he wasn’t looking, to name another.
Never try to insinuate that Z Delgado was a weakling, was probably the most important of them all. If a cadet valued his life, he refrained from treating her as a weeping female, helping her or, God forbid, protecting her.
But guess what Sky Tate was doing right at that very moment. Just guess.
“What the hell are you doing?” she screeched at him, her gloved hands attempting to remove his firm hold on her. “Let go! I can fight!”
The Red Ranger whipped around to face her. “Stay down!” he ordered, gripping her tighter. “Syd and Bridge can handle him.”
And to punctuate his statement, the Blue and Pink Rangers were thrown very near them.
SPD Yellow grunted. “You were saying?”
“Guys! You all right?”
“You’ll pay for that, you big scaly monster!” SPD Pink shrieked in outrage.
“What she said!” SPD Blue said. “Yaaa!”
And they charged.
“Don’t you think they need our help?” SPD Yellow said, shrugging off his hold on her again.
“We can’t let you get in contact with him!” Sky snapped. He frowned, noting how much beating Syd and Bridge were getting, but there was no way he was letting Z out of his sight. “He’s growing stronger whenever you touch him. Somehow he’s feeding off you.”
“What are you saying?” Z asked.
“It’s true,” Kat Manx said, her voice clear through the morpher. “We can’t track down how yet, but it’ll be best if you pull out.”
“But–“
“Cadet, you’ve been given your orders.” Cruger’s tone booked no arguments. “Sky, cover her.”
“Yes sir.” Despite himself, Sky felt infinitely relieved. “You heard him. Run!”
“This is stupid,” Z muttered, very much annoyed. Then, with a nod at Pink and Blue, she turned and ran.
“Not so fast, love!” the monster screamed. Suddenly, four tentacles shot out of his neck, each one grabbing a ranger until all of them were held immobile.
“Oh no!” Syd said.
“I... can’t move!” Bridge gasped.
“Z!” Sky yelled.
“I’m....” Z wiggled hard, trying to get her hands free. “I need to...” She managed to get one out of the monster’s grasp. “Power down!” Her eyes glowed, until three Zs appeared beside the monster. As one, they attacked the tentacles covering the other rangers.
“You can do it, Z!” Bridge urged.
Sky, on the other hand, also wiggled a hand free from the tentacle’s grip. He grabbed his Delta Blasters and pointed them at the head. “Delta Blasters!”
Somehow, the head shrunk into the neck and was able to evade Sky’s attack. “Mm! Food!” he muttered, producing three additional tentacles. Just as the three Rangers were dropped, the new tentacles grabbed the Z clones and held fast.
“Run!” Z yelled, as she watched the others hurry to their feet.
“Not while you’re trapped!” Determinedly, the Red Ranger pointed at the head again. “Delta–“
“No Sky, stop!” Syd said, just in time. The monster now held Z and her clones, using her as a human shield.
“You can shoot through the clones!” Bridge muttered. “Just… as long as you can tell which ones are the clones.”
“Sky.... arggh!” Z screamed, as the tentacles wrapped around her neck. Hazily, she saw her clones disappearing one by one. Just as one disappeared, the hold around her become tighter. “Sky–“
“See you around, Rangers!” And the monster disappeared.
“No!”
“Z!”
“Oh no!”
-
“We have to get her back,” Sky demanded, charging straight at the command center. He fixed his gaze at Cruger. “Commander, I need to–“
“Settle down, cadet,” Cruger told him, his hands behind his back.
How could he be so calm like that? Sky thought, fury building inside him. If it was up to him, they wouldn’t have left. He and Bridge and Syd would have stayed on the field and looked for Z, and she would be here now, not–
“He’s right, Sky,” Syd mumbled softly beside him. She touched his arm. “We’ll find her. In the meantime, we should–“
“We can’t rest until we do!” Frustrated beyond belief, Sky turned to Bridge. “Who knows what that monster is doing to her! We have to find her. We have to find her now.” He looked at Cruger. “Permission to leave and find her, sir.”
The Commander traded glances with Dr. Manx before sighing. “Granted.”
“Thank you, sir!”
-
“Well,” Z muttered beneath her breath. “This is just great.”
She sank down on the floor of the bird cage that was to be her temporary home - in the words of that big scaly monster. She didn’t bother morphing, because she tried getting out as her morphed self - only it didn’t work. Of course, she could duplicate, but with the monster just outside the cage... that would only be giving him what he was waiting for. He wanted her to duplicate so he could gobble up the energy she used to make a clone.
“Anybody there?” she said to the morpher, only to receive static as her answer.
“So, you’re one of the infamous rangers that destroyed Grumm, destroyer of universes,” the monster said, his tentacles rotating like a fan around his neck. “There’s bittersweet irony in that, my dear.”
“There is?” she replied. “Somehow I don’t see that.”
“You see... I came to this universe when I heard that Grumm was here. He destroyed my planet.” The tentacles stopped, glowed red. “I was hoping I can destroy him.”
“But you found him dead,” Z told him. “You should thank us, you know. We got rid of him for you.”
“On the contrary. You robbed me of the chance to destroy him. For that, you will pay. But first...” He leaned on his chair, and Z knew he was waiting for her.
She grunted. There was no chance in hell–
“Agh!”
A tentacle shot through the bars and snaked around her throat. At once, she felt herself drained of something - energy, life, or whatever he was taking from her. It lasted all of five seconds, but when it stopped she felt as though she’d just ran fifty miles without resting. She dropped to the floor again, and saw that the monster glowed yellow temporarily.
“There,” he muttered. “Not that hard, is it?” The monster laughed. “I will use you as my source, and I will defeat your friends using your energy. Bittersweet irony, hmm?”
-
“Sky–“ Syd gasped as she rested her palms over her knees. “Please. We have to rest for a while.”
Sky turned at her, annoyed. “Her energy reading stopped here,” he said, shaking his morpher. “This is where we start looking.” He moved towards the left.
Bridge handed Syd some water. “Are you okay?”
“No,” she said, miserable. “And I’m really sorry that monster took Z and everything, and I feel bad, I really do, but I’m tired. We all are. We’ve just been through a tough fight! But Sky... he acts as though...” Syd glanced at Sky. “I know why he’s looking for her. I mean.... I know why he’s all frantic like this. You know, with what it is between them–“
“What’s between who?”
Syd paused. “You mean you don’t notice anything between Sky and Z?”
“Well, they fight a lot,” Bridge answered.
“Well, yes,” Syd agreed, “but that’s just because they care about each other. A lot.”
Bridge paused. “Really?”
“Yes!” She pulled his arm and pointed at Sky. “That’s why he’s so determined to look for her. I think, after we find her, he’ll be able to tear big scaly demon to pieces with his bare hands, just because he had the nerve to kidnap Z.”
“Don’t you think he’s concerned because she’s our friend?”
She stared at him for the longest time. “What if I’m the one who got kidnapped,” Syd started slowly, tentatively, “what will you do, Bridge?”
He fidgeted, but Syd noticed a firm line forming around his mouth. “Well, I’ll look really hard for you,” he told her. “I mean, really, really hard.”
A curious feeling of warmth engulfed Syd, but she disregarded it as soon as it came. “And that’s what Sky is doing right now,” she stated.
“But maybe... Sky is just concerned, that’s all,” Bridge insisted.
“Men,” Syd said, shaking her head. “So oblivious.”
-
Z started to drift off the sleep, when a ruckus startled her to wakefulness. “What...” She scrambled to her feet. “What’s going on?”
And at once, the monster guarding her was thrown off to a wall. Z caught a flash of red and her spirits rose.
“Sky!” she yelled, too glad to even think of another name.
True enough, the red ranger rushed to her cage, and held her hands. “Are you all right?”
Z might hate his guts, be annoyed at his arrogance, and dislike him immensely, but now she found herself extremely glad to see him. “I knew you’d come,” she whispered. “I knew it.”
The red ranger powered down, and smiled at her however briefly. He then proceeded to open the door, and Z stumbled into his arms.
“Where’re Syd... and Bridge?” she asked weakly.
Sky tightened his hold on her. “They’ve got Ric,” he answered. “They’re blasting the monster to smithereens.”
“But they... might need us,” she said.
“They can hold their own,” Sky told her.
And true enough, a loud explosion echoed in the distance.
“Take it easy, Z,” he said softly. “I’m taking you home.”
-
Z knocked on the door. “Permission to enter?”
Sky almost dropped his book as he hastened to his feet. “Shouldn’t you be resting?”
She smiled briefly at him. “I’m fine,” Z replied. “I’ve slept long, so I’m feeling rested right now.” She gave him a sidelong glance. “Thanks to you.”
He cocked a brow. “Are you sure?”
“Yes. I...” She hated the rapid beating of her heart as she paused to think of what to say next. “Well... Sky...”
Sky refrained from stepping closer. “What is it?”
Z lifted her eyes to look at him. “I just wanted to say thanks. For saving me. I really appreciate it.”
He shrugged. “That’s what we do, right?”
“Right.” She chuckled. “You know what? I think this is our first decent conversation, Tate.”
“You might be right.” He smiled.
They stared and smiled at each other for a few silent seconds, before Z shuffled her feet and said, “Well... I guess I better be going.” She nodded at him, then left.

"Blink first and you die," Z said.
"You're on," Bridge answered.
And so it went. Z and Bridge stared at each other, and while Bridge noticeably had difficulties in keeping a straight face Z appeared to have no problems whatsoever. She even had time to make funny faces at him.
Syd looked at the two of them, rolled her eyes, and continued reading her magazine. "Come on, Bridge, give up already. It's not like you've won against Z in that," she said.
"I can try!" he countered, rubbing his nose.
"Let the poor boy have his fun," Z said, wagging her brows.
Within the next minute, Bridge can feel his eyes drifting shut. His eyes felt like there were ice cubes on them. Finally, after a few more seconds...
"Agh!" he yelled, blinking rapidly. "I can't believe I lost! Again!"
"That goes without saying," Z told him, a wide smile on her face.
"Come on, Syd, rock, paper, scissors," Bridge said, standing beside Syd.
"Um, let me think about it... no."
"Why not? I have to win at something! And I always win against you!"
"Agh! The nerve of--"
"Well, don't feel too sorry for yourself, Bridge. It's just that... I'm better at that game more than anyone." Z spread out her fingers and looked at her nails. "I once made Jack cry, since he was so determined to win and we stared at each other for, like, two whole minutes, and at the end his eyes just watered and... well..." She shrugged. "No one can beat me."
"I'd like to test that theory," someone said as the elevator doors opened.
Z lifted a brow at Sky. "Well look who decided to swagger in," she said. She patted the seat Bridge vacated.
Syd aimed a look at the newcomer. "What, out to prove your superiority again, Sky?"
"As a matter of fact, yes," Sky answered, settling right in front of Z. "As the new Red Ranger, I--"
"Oh yes, do let's hear the 'Red Ranger speech'," Syd muttered under her breath. "Only let's not."
"I do believe I already beat you in poker," Z told Sky. "I guess another win against you won't hurt."
He dismissed that with a hand. "Poker's different. It's a game of luck, whereas this... it's a game of abilities. Determination. And I'm a master at both."
"Well, good luck with that, master," she cooed, smiling brilliantly at him. "Bridge, be the timer, okay?"
"Okay." Bridge rubbed his hands together. "Ready... set... start!"
They both stared at each other. Z started making funny faces again, and aside from the twitching of the corners of his mouth Sky did not show any reaction whatsoever. A minute elapsed. Then, another. Then, another. And finally...
Sky started to rub his nose.
"What?" Z asked. "About to sneeze, oh great one?"
"No," he answered quickly.
She smiled slyly. "Do you know that if you try sneezing with your eyes open you might risk having your eyeballs pop out?"
"Eww!" Syd said. She turned to Bridge. "Is that true?"
"Yes," Bridge said. "There's actually a theory behind it. See, the speed of--"
"I'm soooo sorry I asked."
Sky twitched his nose.
"Just sneeze already, you poor thing," Z told him.
"And lose to you? I think not," he countered.
"Whatever. You're such a big-shot, aren't you, Sky Tate? Probably can't handle being beaten by lil ol' me." She patted his shoulder. "You manly man, you."
"This is coming from someone who resorts to other means to get me to blink?" he said, raising his brow.
"Well, I had to try, didn't I?" She smiled again, then tapped the tip of Sky's nose.
"So that means I can try something too, correct?" he asked, swatting her hand away.
She chuckled. "I assure you, there's nothing you can do to get me to bli--"
Without warning, Sky closed the distance between them, and kissed her smack on the lips.
Syd and Bridge gaped.
Z blinked.
And Sky won.
"Told you so," he said, cracking a smile.

There! the other stuff I wrote were woefully unfinished ones. Currently I'm obsessing over two fics for Haruka/Takeru of Maskman and a freakishly long fic for a Koreanovela. Anyone know of Three Dads with One Mommy? Yeah, I'm also writing for that :P

Summary: Z gets kidnapped. Sky goes to the rescue. Purely self-indulgence, let me tell you :P

I LOVE THAT KOREANOVELA. <3 Hee! And LOL, you're writing for it, too, huh? I particularly like Mr. Stingy-man, but then I can never really choose among the three of them!

And you can probably guess what pairing I'm writing for in that story :P But yes... which is probably why the ending turned out like that. All three turned out to be superb in their own ways... but I still want my Lizette/Jake, damnit!

When you do write that fic, I am so reading it. XD

that said, if you wrote Chisato/Kenta, I would love you forever and ever! Not that I don't like Kouichiro/Chisato, I just think the former is so adorable.
