Ugly Betty

Anyone in my flist watching Ugly Betty? I've been fond of watching this show before, and now I'm interested in it again. I know it's based from a telenovela (that was shown in our country!), so each episode I'm wondering, when will Betty and Daniel hook up (since their foreign counterparts did, right?)? :X And Mark and Amanda are just like Jack and Karen of W&G, so, love :D

(and the new coach is hooooooot!)

I watch it! I haven't seen the last three episodes though. At least I think it's the last three - could be two. I've not seen anything after Betty's Bday yet. :P

And I was totally surprised when I found that in the telenovas the Betty and Daniel counterparts got together. Because as much as I love Betty and Daniel together, I love them just as they are. I think them hooking up would just ruin the show and the characters. It just doesn't work in the world the writers have set up thus far, as far as I'm concerned. :P

You're probably right. I have a tendency to hate the show after the couple I want to hook up actually hooks up :D And yes, Daniel and Betty are just great as they are right now, but if ever... I really hope that she doesn't go through any magical makeover that happened in the original piece. Wouldn't it be fantastic if Daniel fell for her for her uniqueness? Or at least I think so :D

The episodes I was able to watch were the ones after Betty's bday. LOL!

And I agree with you about the hating of shows after the hooking up. Not so much because the couple has hooked up (and I do still watch) but because it seems as though the couple can then never really stay hooked up. There's got to be some sort of relationship drama and I just don't like that. I rather than wait and anticipate and have UST for ages than have them get together and then fight and maybe even break up because then the next thing you know, you're watching a tape with your drunk husband and best friend having sex from years before or a skanky nanny ho joins your husband all naked in the shower and that's just not good tv.

LOL! I love your rant! And yes I agree to everything you said. It's really unsatisfying to see the couple do all these stupid drama just because they jumped in and started a relationship, and OMG they have to face the world and all its consequences!!! No thank you. The veiled glances and meaningful (to us!) little nonverbal things will suffice :D

Like Bones. You know they totally want to jump each other, but the wait is more than worth it. Not because I don't think they'll be awesome once they're together, but because once they are the whole show will change.

That's why I kind of like having OTP's that aren't canon - it's easier to play with. Sadly, the OTP's that are canon are getting screwed regularly - and not always by each other either. It's just too much, I think. It's like, some shows are slow to get the characters together and then quick to cause drama.

Bad. It's just bad.

You betcha. I don't really watch Bones because seeing there makes we want to hunt every fool who decided against renewing Angel for a sixth year, but the times I do get to catch it, I also get that feeling.

YES! That way, the writers can't screw with our wishes and go one way when we want the characters to go the other way :D This takes me back to Angel, again - the time they decided to go with Angel/Cordelia was the time they killed her. Beautiful writing and all, but still! Slow burn.

I never really watched Angel. I've seen the episodes with Scoobies (and Spike) and I did intend on watching S5. But it was just painful and it just got to a point where I wished they'd never brought Spike back at all, for the way the writers used him so I stopped watching. (Harms Way I believe the episode was. The one where he "becomes a real boy" again.)

And Bones is awesome. I'm actually liking David's character, which is new for me since I never really liked him as Angel (on Buffy. I hear he's quite awesome on Angel, but I never got around to watching it I'm afraid.)

Actually, I totally should. I've heard that the friendships are better - more mature - on Angel, even though many of the characters are the same from Buffy. Mostly I think because I still see (and they still act) like teenagers, like with Xander and their dislike for Spike, whereas the Angel Investigations team seems more mature and friendly towards one another. I could be wrong though, but still....

Maybe I should look into the show during the summer and there aren't any updates... *ponders*

OMG YES YOU SHOULD. I never really watched Buffy until I got to watch Angel, but yes, the dynamics between the characters are so different if you compare the two shows. I'm not sure if it's more mature, but it is funnier - Wesley's really great S1 to mid S3, and Cordelia is a gem to watch. I do have the DVDs of everything except all of S4, because I don't like Connor so much. Eek. Evil Cordy rocks, but Jasmine didn't really interest me at all.

Watching Season 5 makes me sad because it's like finally saying goodbye to a show I loved so much - but it's a hell of a season. I LOVE Illyria! And Wesley!

Well, Harm's Way was all about Harmony, so I'm not sure. There was an ep, I think, where Angel was drugged or something that made him dream that Spike became human. Spike in Angel was realy great and he just fit in seamlessly with the characters, and him and Angel were really great to watch. There's an ep you HAVE to see, if you can - The Girl in Question. It deals with Spike and Angel dealing with Buffy having someone else. Sorry for the spoiler *g*

Oh, you can't really spoil me about S5 - though I didn't watch most of it, I've read about it. I still wanted to know how it ended so I do know about the Immortal.

And while yes, Spike did seem to fit in sort of, I don't like how the writers used him. Take for instance that episode where he just casually mentioned that thing with his mother. Not exactly something I'd imagined him being so open about, especially not with people he doesn't really know.

I've seen a few bits of scenes and such from S1 - they aired it here not too long ago - and I've seen fanvideos and such with funny clips. It's always looked like fun, so I just might watch it when I have time...

It'll be weird though, to watch a show not that's over, but that is set in a verse that I've loved what seems like forever, but doesn't really have any of the characters I adore. :P

I love Ugly Betty! And that's very interesting about the telenovela. I've been wondering if Betty and Daniel will get together in the distant future. (I don't think it'll be anytime soon, though.)

True, true. It'll be in the faaaar future. But if the show is going to follow the path of the original telenovela, then Daniel and Betty are bound to get together after Betty gets her oh-so-magical-transformation. I just hope this Betty doesn't go through that phase though.

Well, I'm pretty sure she'll get her braces off, at the very least. Maybe just a casual transformation.

Hmm, now you've got me thinking back the the final episodes of Family Matters when Steve and Laura finally got together. He stopped wearing suspenders and started wearing Hawaiian shirts. Weird.

I think that Betty and Daniel would be a cute couple...but right now they're setting her up to be with Gio.
They just did an episode where Daniel thought Betty was in love with him and flipped out, so it doesn't look like it's happening anywhere in the near future...
But who knows what'll happen 3rd season.

I watched that episode! Hhahaa. I just thought that the end part, with Daniel looking at Henry and Betty, was especially meaningful. I for one have nothing against Gio, but... I really like Daniel! Ha.

It was actually pretty funny. I, for one, love the whole Mark/Wilhemina thing. Their lines are hilarious, all the time.

Too true! I have more liking for the villains than the good people :D I looovve Amanda, she's a hoot! I'll watch her over Hilda anytime.

I kinda didn't notice Daniel's tendency to wear girl colors... hahah, that's something to look out for!

I have watched a couple of episodes and am dying to start watching it regularly. I love those that I have watched but have missed most of them so will probably have to get all the episodes later somehow!!!
I have to admit I really want Betty and Daniel to get together but yeah I do hate the aftermath that usually happens in the shows. I do think though that in this particular show it will be a long time before they get together.

Yeah. And they really have to start really subtle, because if these two would suddenly be in bed together I'd be reallllyyy turned off.

Tell me about it. Though I reckon they will go about it properly coz I like how they have gone about the show till now (though I'm hardly a good judge since I really haven't watched that many episodes). Here's hoping for a good (and happy!!) ending..

No no I LOVE it!!! Thats why I'm fairly confident that when they do get together it'll be done really well. I'm sorry if i didn't get that across well. I'm really bad with words...funny that I should choose the net to communicate..lol
