This ep was just awesome-sauce! I had goosebumps when I heard the Shinkenger drum roll again. Only, this ep also affirmed by intense dislike for Ahim. I haven't actively hated on a Pink since... ever, but something about her character annoys the hell out of me. UGH.

I wish we did have a stuck-up, spoiled character for a princess, because then I might just like her.

ALSO, TANBA'S SHUFFLING. Best use of sound effects ever.

ALSO ALSO LUKA BECOMING MEGAYELLOW AND YELLOW MASK NEXT WEEK. I CAN'T. I'M JUST. HNNNG.

I was far too busy drooling over the Joe flashbacks and characterization. Overall a good ep. I'm not too annoyed by Ahim yet, but she's not my favorite pink yet. Hard to beat Sakura from BoukenGer.

It's almost impossible to beat Sakura as the 'Best Pink', imho. And guh, the flashbacks were fabulous :D

Ahim is just... I don't know. To be honest in retrospect, Eri's the more annoying Pink of the two, but she ends up being cute instead of annoying unlike this one.

I actually like Ahim because of that? Like, if she'd been the spoiled princess type it would've been frustrating due to her inactivity so far-- all talk, no show. But her humility/awareness that she's still got a ways to go keeps her balanced for me.

Not to say how sedate she isn't frustrating. I'm really hoping we get to see her have adventures on her own unassisted soon, because the 'too good to be true' princess trope can get grating as well-- for me, at least, her actress has kept her from falling into that trap so, but it's definitely borderline.

I'm not sure if she'll be this inactive if she were the spoiled type, though. I don't know. Maybe we'll even have a back story for her ala Summer of PR RPM - spoiled until something happened to make her change her ways.

Ahim's just a little too good for my taste right now, and there's no spark in her to make her cute/adorable.

Yeah, I'm really hoping that she gets more traits soon. :( That said, I did like how how she rushed right into Marvelous vs Kaoru. More of that, please.

I... actually hated that she did that :\ Heh.

I thought it was adorably reckless? D:

PS, sorry if I'm being obtuse about this, but I admit I get twitchy about female character bashing, even if there are good reasons to dislike how the character's written. It tends to fall into 'all women should be pitted against each other, and also there's a template to which all women must conform to, or they're lesser and should be hated openly' thinking very quickly, at least from what I've seen. You're obviously not doing it. But it's something that never, ever fails to tweak me, even if it's (mostly) balanced.

tl;dr I'll just leave it as is, and yes, agree to disagree. <3

It was an awesome episode.
I don't know what to think of Ahim (or Don) at the moment. I didn't think I was going to like Joe at first, but along with Luka, they're my faves.
I'm definatly looking forward to next weeks.

Don's... well, he's okay, but I think he's being clumsy/butt of everyone's jokes is getting old. At least for me, though. I know we're only like 1/4th of the series in and hopefully they'll give us more info about these two.

Episode 11 rocked my socks! I'm really loving Joe more. I totally wanted to hug him or something. And Luka concerned about him was a nice touch. I was watching it live, and for a brief second I thought Ahim would be the one to notice. I was pleasantly surprised, short as the moment might have been.

Ahns, I guess we have reached a point of disagreement there. (we knew that, though, no?) I like Ahim, and I thought she was quite lovely in this episode. Like you and Mariko-chan, guess we'll agree to disagree? :)

It was great seeing Kaoru. Toei is really giving her the opportunity to shine on-screen more. I'm glad they brought her in for the Shinken episode.

That's Ahim for you. My guess is, had it been anyone else, she would have been concerned like that, too. But it wouldn't have surprised me either if, while worried about Marvelous, she would have also noticed Joe's behavior. But if they had gone that route, it'd only give more ground for the Joe/Ahim ship, and... um, no thanks.

True, considering the little snippets of Joe/Ahim the ep included in the earlier parts. I'm glad they're being consistent with the friendship between Joe and Luka, though!

Yes, absolutely. Let them keep it that way, and can I hope that it will be a beautiful thing to see throughout the series, without me wanting to "poke my eyes with a spork" or something? TOT

Oh yeah, absolutely! As long as they don't officially sink it like they did with Masumi/Natsuki -_- If they really can't give me canon, at least give me a Hoji/Jasmine kind of thing. Though if they do that indeed while keeping at this route, it will make me happier in the sense that they HAD given us more for Joe/Luka than they ever did for Hoji/Jasmine :P

A-aww Masumi/Natsuki. I still ship it like mad, and no amount of sinking can make me un-ship it!

Hehe, fwiw, I still like this pairing a lot - still in my list. Even if I went all "Aww, man!" At least that wasn't on-screen, so I can live with that, LOL.

I've been watching Gokaiger too, but haven't had a chance to post coherent thoughts about it yet.

I actually like Ahim a lot, the way she's so polite and watches out for her teammates - although I don't ship Joe/Ahim, I kind of ship Ahim/Marvelous, although maybe that's just the red/pink shipper in me? The reason that I like her though is because she's really good at connecting to and interacting with people. It's still early in the series, but I love how she & Don were talking with Kakeru. But I do agree that she needs more characterization, but who knows if we'll get it, since males in Sentai tend to get more development than the females. I'm only watching the subbed episodes.

Ep 13 is supposed to be an Ahim-focused episode, so hopefully we'll get some characterization there.

I like Marvelous, but I'm biased with my Blues so I'll go with Joe, hehe :P There's just something about his ponytail!

I think not liking Ahim is an unpopular opinion, then? I can live with that :D I haven't seen ep 13 at all (and to be honest, I've no plans to), so I'm not sure if it will give her character something more than what she already has. I've never been a fan of sweet characters, and it obviously applies to Ahim as well.

I want to like Joe, but at the same time, I want to chop off his ponytail.
For me, there are very few guys that can pull off long hair like that, and he's not one of them (for me, anyway).

you've never liked sweet characters, I wouldn't have guessed that. But I always wait for the subs to come out, since otherwise I tend to interpret scenes with the completely wrong meaning.

I might post a Joe/Ahim short thing from Ep 4 later today/tomorrow, your thoughts?

Your icon reminds me that I like Kotoha - but that's different since I'll always like Yellows whatever their character traits are. I'm pickier with Pinks.

I'm not a fan of that pairing, but by all means go for it! :D More Gokaiger fic is always a good thing.

I hate to say, I replaced the Kotoha icon recently - for a lovely Gokaiger one that you made :D
