(no subject)

Got my D/Hr Fic Assignment, and ngl I'm scared of it - scared in a 'no way am I going to pull this off, goddamnit' kind of way. Hnnnnnnnggg. Luck, I'll definitely need it for this round!

And speaking of needing luck, my mom and I will be trying our hand at selling homemade stuff - mostly soaps and detergents. I'm pumped for it! I will handle the actual making of soaps, which is crazily fun I have to admit, and my mom will be the one to sell it, as I have absolutely no selling skills at all, while she, on the other hand, can sell you your own liver. Try saying/reading that convoluted sentence a few times, I dare you :P But yeah, hopefully this will work so at least I could use my free time productively. Wish our new enterprise luck, flist! ♥

Don't be scared! You're going to do a very good job.

It sounds like a fun thing to try. Will you be making scented ones or ones merely for cleaning but without scent? Good luck!

I hope so! It's just when I read what the assignment was and who it's for, I just kinda froze up and panicked a bit. Haha!

Mostly the ones we're doing are cleaning stuff with the usual scents like lemon and nature's fresh :D

If it helps put you at ease, just know that we were all in agreement with giving you that person, because we all have faith in you being able to do a very good job of it.

Do you do it with like, real lemon to get the scent or is it from a bottle of lemon scent?

[identity profile] zarahjoyce.livejournal.com 2011-02-02 03:32 pm (UTC)(link)
You guys! ♥ Here's hoping I won't let you guys down.

And nope, we do it with a bottle of concentrated stuff. I think real lemons will be more expensive than the fake one, but I can't be too sure of that.

[identity profile] reetinkerbell.livejournal.com 2011-02-02 03:40 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm sure you won't. :)

I was thinking more along the lines of which one would give the most scent, but cost is a factor as well. Plus, real lemons have an acidity that the bottled thing might not, and that might affect the soap in a bad way. Still, I was curious so I had to ask. :)

♥♥♥

I haven't really tried doing stuff with real lemons, so that's actually an interesting point - although I might substitute calamansi for lemons since the former is cheaper and more abundant here. Lemons are really scarce and expensive since most Filipino foods don't require it :D

[identity profile] reetinkerbell.livejournal.com 2011-02-02 03:47 pm (UTC)(link)
And there's something I didn't consider, about the lemons and availability. Plus, if people generally don't use it in cooking or anything, then they are perhaps also less likely to want their soaps to smell of it, since then it's not a scent they recognise as easily and enjoy having around, if that makes sense. I will need to look calamansi up, as I don't know if that's what I think it is - due to the translation. :P

Oh, HAHA. it's like a clementine? Only perhaps a little bit different in taste?

[identity profile] zarahjoyce.livejournal.com 2011-02-02 03:51 pm (UTC)(link)
...I had to look up clementine because I didn't know it :P I think it's the same family, though? here's (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Calamansi) a wiki entry for it. Oddly enough, we only use this stuff when it's still unripe and green. Usually when it's turned yellow we throw it away.

[identity profile] reetinkerbell.livejournal.com 2011-02-02 03:56 pm (UTC)(link)
That's the page I looked at, and it looked like a clementine which was why I asked.

[identity profile] zarahjoyce.livejournal.com 2011-02-02 03:58 pm (UTC)(link)
I see! I suppose calamansi is smaller, though.

[identity profile] reetinkerbell.livejournal.com 2011-02-02 04:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Wasn't able to judge it, but, at least now I think I sort of know what you mean. The scent is fruitier than a lemon, so that would work very well with soaps for people use.

[identity profile] zarahjoyce.livejournal.com 2011-02-02 04:03 pm (UTC)(link)
I think so, too! We just bought the ingredients earlier today and the scent is really an expensive one - at least we could substitute fresh kalamansi and save up. Thanks for that idea!

[identity profile] reetinkerbell.livejournal.com 2011-02-02 05:34 pm (UTC)(link)
I didn't realise I'd given the idea, but if so you're welcome! :D Have fun and I hope you'll be able to experiment with other scents too, soon enough.

[identity profile] zarahjoyce.livejournal.com 2011-02-03 12:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Hopefully! ♥

I got mine too! I'm still trying to work out even a plot since mine assignment is kind of vague. *sigh* Something will come to me.

Good luck with the soaps! Sounds like it'll be fun XD

[identity profile] zarahjoyce.livejournal.com 2011-02-02 03:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Something better come to us! It's the last exchange - might as well go out with a bang!

And thank you. It is, surprisingly!
