my 400th post!

...in honor of this monumental event, let me share a link with you. Not coded so you'll know what you're going to read:

http://www.cracked.com/article_14979_the-6-most-terrifying-foods-in-world.html

For the record, I don't know if #1 being #1 should amuse or insult me, because that thing is delicious. Ha.

I think I'd be scared to eat it. (although I have eaten dog, so...) (I thought my dad was joking)

I spent half the page with my hand slapped to my face. Baby mouse wine. From Korea. I'm terrified to ask my parents about it.

Congratulations on your 400th post! :D

I was going to read the article and even opened the link in another window, but then I saw some of [livejournal.com profile] littledelusion's comment and I just went HELL NO! Because yeah, gross.

Numbers 5-2 (or 2-5? XD) are entirely gross, but as I'm Pinoy I'm not at all weirded out by balut. XD

Balut doesn't deserve to be #1! the cheese and the mouse wine are grosser. I agree, balut is good! I used to eat it as a kid. Now I'm kind of turned off by the crunching of bones but otherwise it's yummy. Like you, I like the soupy thing then give the chick maybe to my dad. It's been years since I've had, though!

My Canadian flatmate agrees that the cheese and wine are grosser, hehe. Though her face went funny when I described balut.

Considering most of those dishes are highly treasured in their native countries (and abroad - certain sections of Seattle have pro-lute fish pride graffiti), I think you can chalk the writers up to being huge babies.

While balut sounds, uh, creepy (to me, at least), I suppose there are worse things than that.

It's not the first time I've heard about baby mice wine (I read about it in a book) so I'm not utterly surprised. And they make wine with snakes, too. Creepy...
